Plum Coulee’s Ross Derksen was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 26, 2006, along with four other area athletes. Derksen, a member of the 2002 David Hamblin rink that won provincial, national and world junior curling titles, joins Karen Doell of Winkler, Morden’s Jim Mutcheson and Kaleida’s Juanita Clayton on the list of those who will be honoured for their dedication to sport. Derksen, who was also named the all-star third at the world competition, grew up in Plum Coulee and graduated from Garden Valley Collegiate. He is now a resident of Winkler and a phys-ed teacher at Garden Valley Collegiate.
In 2006 the team was inducted into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame.
Along with David Hamblin, Derksen was part of the mixed curling team that took home silver medals at the Nationals in Whitehorse in 2005.
Derksen will be representing Manitoba in Nunavut this fall at the Mixed National Curling Championship as a result of winning the provincial title in March, together with the rest of the Shawn Grassie team.

Riley Unger, son of Randy and Heather Unger, has been garnering trophy after trophy with his golfing prowess. He is a two time Manitoba Junior Men's Golf Team Member . In 2006 his Manitoba Juvenile Team won the Western Canadian Juvenile Championships in Edmonton. In 2004 he represented Canada at the international Optimist Championships in West Palm Beach Florida.

promote and organize community sport, recreation, and fitness activities
run and maintain all sports facilities in the town
hold an annual sports day on the second Saturday in June

Judy (Loewen) Derksen displays the gold and bronze medals she won at the World Special Olympics Winter Games in Austria in 1993.
The Plum Coulee Peewee's of 1994 went through the regular season and league playoffs undefeated. They lost 1 game during Regional Playoffs and went on to win Provincials undefeated with a record of 5-5, scoring 84 runs and allowing only 21. The season ended with a record of 24 wins and only 1 loss.

For many years the Plum Coulee Kinsmen supported and managed the minor league sports programs in Plum Coulee. In 1977, the Plum Coulee Sport Committee assumed these duties to ensure that children and adults had the venues and opportunities to participate in physical activities that promote friendship and sportsmanship.
